SignsTV Uganda is a venture of OpenSigns Impact Innovations limited – a tech for inclusion social enterprise that exists to inspire digital inclusion by building innovations that enable persons with Disabilities to be able to access social services thus leading a life free from barriers.

SignsTV Uganda is an online TV Channel that broadcasts its content entirely in Ugandan Sign Language with captions and audio transcriptions provided to ensure full and equal accessibility of TV content to everyone. SignsTV has been running as a YouTube channel backed by Facebook and Twitter pages that have been in existence since April 2022 and its main audience is the Deaf community whose mode of communication is Sign Language.

The channel ensures reasonable accessibility standards by including English captions in its media content to serve viewers who have hearing difficulty such as the hard-of-hearing as well as a voice translation of the sign language to help the general hearing community to access its content.

SignsTV is the first and only channel that is offering Sign Language based programming in Uganda and is aiming at building a robust network of Sign Language news programming that would effectively enable Deaf persons to fully access TV programming in the long run leading to full inclusion.
